FAQs

Commonquestions.

Who is Tech Help for?

Tech Help is for anyone in Melbourne who finds technology confusing or overwhelming — most commonly older Australians who want to get more from their phone, tablet, or computer. We'll meet you wherever you're at, with no judgement and no jargon.

Where do the sessions take place?

We meet somewhere public and comfortable in Melbourne — a local café, a shopping centre food court, or somewhere similar. Somewhere you feel relaxed. We prefer public places so everyone is comfortable, and it's a nicer environment than a stuffy office.

Can you come to my home?

We prefer to meet in public places for everyone's comfort and safety. In some cases we can discuss a home visit, but we'll work that out together. Public meetups work well for most sessions and are often more relaxed.

How much does a Tech Help session cost?

Tech Help is charged at an hourly rate that covers our time and travel. This service is about helping people — not making a profit — so our rates are kept as low as practically possible. The exact rate depends on your location within Melbourne. Get in touch and we'll give you a clear number with no surprises.

Is this only for elderly people?

Not at all — Tech Help is for anyone who finds technology confusing, regardless of age. We just find that older Australians are often the most underserved when it comes to everyday technology support, so they're who we most commonly help.

Do you cover all of Melbourne?

We cover areas our team can personally travel to within Melbourne. We'll let you know if your area is within reach when you get in touch. We're committed to reaching as wide an area as practically possible.

What technology can you help with?

Smartphones (iPhone and Android), iPads and tablets, laptops and computers, smart TVs, streaming services, video calling apps (FaceTime, Zoom, WhatsApp), Google Home and Alexa, online banking, MyGov, Medicare, social media, email, photos, scam protection, and more. If it's everyday technology, we can almost certainly help.

Do I need to bring anything to the session?

Just bring the device or devices you'd like help with. If you have login details (email address, passwords) you might need, bring those too — but don't stress if you've forgotten them. We're used to it and we'll sort it out together.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes! A Tech Help session makes a thoughtful and genuinely useful gift — for a birthday, Christmas, or just because. The recipient books at a time that suits them. Get in touch to arrange a gift voucher.

Can I bring a friend or partner to the session?

Absolutely. We offer small group sessions for 2–4 people. It's more relaxed and social, and the hourly rate per person works out lower than a solo session. Perfect for couples, friends, or neighbours who want to learn together.

Is there a minimum number of sessions I need to book?

No. There's no lock-in, no packages to buy, and no minimum sessions. Book one session and see how you feel. Most people find even a single session very helpful and come back when something new comes up.

What if I have more questions after the session?

Drop us a message. We're happy to answer a quick follow-up question, and if you need more help in person, just book another session. We're here whenever you need us.

More Ways to Help

Gift vouchers & group sessions.

Give the Gift of Confidence

Know someone who could use a little tech help? A WebLift Tech Help session makes a thoughtful and genuinely useful gift — for a birthday, Christmas, or just because.

We offer gift vouchers for one or more sessions. The recipient books at a time that suits them, and we take care of the rest. It's the kind of gift that keeps giving — because once someone knows how to video call their grandkids, they do it every week.

Learn With Friends

Prefer to learn with a friend, neighbour, or partner? We offer small group sessions for 2–4 people. It's more relaxed, more social, and often more fun — and the hourly rate per person works out lower than a solo session.

Perfect for couples who want to learn together, friends at a similar skill level, or small groups from a community or social club. Retirement village and community centre sessions are also welcome — enquire for group rates.
